About Edwin Dilone, LCSW

Men’s Mental Health Oriented Care in Florida

Hello, I’m Edwin Dilone

I love helping men deal with their mental struggles and live a more fulfilling life. I provide therapy specifically tailored to men's mental health.

I want to help men who are going through tough times mentally or emotionally because of the pressures and challenges from society. My calling is to assist them in overcoming feelings of anger, sadness, depression, powerlessness, futility, shame, guilt, fear, anxiety, discontent, and the overarching feeling of being lost in life.

How my passion developed

Having grown up without a father figure, as a young man I didn’t know how to make sense of the behavior of men growing up in popular neighborhoods in both my native Hispanic country and the community that adopted me at age 14 in Brooklyn, New York.  The experiences of these men didn’t match the way I was taught to understand the concept of a thriving and flourishing male role model.

I questioned how men can handle tough emotions at work, home, and in society. I faced depression, anxiety, worries, and fears in my relationships and community. I often needed space to be alone.

It was very isolating to face my insecurities and fears after setbacks at work and in relationships.  In retrospect, I realize that by allowing myself to address head on my experiences of anger, sadness, shame, guilt, fear, and discontent, I have taken ownership of my unique identity of a flourishing and thriving man.

Deconstructing my emotions and feelings turned out to be an essential and healthy part of my development.  It enabled me to develop a sense of compassion towards other men facing mental distress due to challenges at work, home, or the social environment.  Therefore, it has become my vocation to provide mental health services for men.

How I live out my passion as a therapist

I find a sense of fulfillment in walking alongside other fellow men in the journey out of chronic mental distress due to the challenges and pressures that society has placed on us in our particular walks of life.  I deeply value helping men win the battles against the “internal dragons” that make life at times miserable and unbearable.

I want men to know that there is a path towards mental healing and movement towards a fulfilling life that takes into account their unique roles in any life situation they find themselves in. My hope is that your interest in engaging professional therapy is the first step in finding mental healing through the guidance and support of a trained and experienced therapist, who is committed to work on men’s mental health common challenges.

How I help other men

In my training as a therapist, I've studied various perspectives that have helped me understand men's inner thoughts and motivations, which has furthered my ability to assist men in their personal development through working with clients over the years.

I understand that as men, we are always expected to be mentally strong and to be a reliable role models in society. However, we are at the same time in an ongoing process of development forged by a life full of challenges. During these shifts in life, we are often left scarred and tried to carry on hiding the mental wounds as we try to make sense of the resulting shame and our vulnerabilities. In hiding these unhealed wounds, some aspects of our personality are threatened by specific contexts at work, family life, or the social environment. In treating these mental problems, I use evidence-based psychological tools and an eclectic treatment approach that involves proven therapeutic modalities.

I want to help shift society’s perspectives to see men’s mental struggles as a necessary part of our growth that requires a supportive and understanding community where meaningful connections are always available for men.
